Inaugurated way back in 1965 by the Union of Industrialists of Ferrara, now known as Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, this prestigious award is a tribute to art and culture, in perfect harmony with the city's majestic Renaissance history.
The inspiration behind the Estense Prize can be attributed to the visionary Giorgio Piacentini, supported by eminent figures such as Gian Antonio Cibotto and Gianni Granzotto. The aim? To celebrate excellence in journalism through the evaluation of professionals and publicists who have distinguished themselves for their ability to reflect on contemporary reality through their writing.
Since then, the Estense Prize has given resonance to quality journalism in Italy, stimulating comparisons and discussions on burning issues and raising awareness of the importance of corporate social commitment.
For this 59th edition, the technical jury, headed by Alberto Faustini, had the difficult task of selecting four finalists from no less than 69 nominations:
- "Traitors" by Paolo Borrometi
- "The Year of Fascism. 1922. Cronache della Marcia su Roma" by Ezio Mauro
- "Mura. The writer who challenged Mussolini" by Marcello Sorgi
- "Head up, and forward" by Gaia Tortora
The Estense Prize has also inaugurated an innovative Master's Degree in Journalism, collaborating with prestigious Italian postgraduate schools. This initiative combines education and the world of work, shaping fundamental communication skills. It also promotes constructive encounters between entrepreneurs, institutional figures and journalists, breaking down barriers and facilitating transversal dialogue.
Importantly, the Estense Prize also involves a popular jury of forty readers, including teachers, professionals and students, in choosing the winner. This unique aspect adds value to the prize itself, demonstrating its invaluable role as a social glue and vehicle for dialogue between different but complementary actors in our society.
We are proud to be an official partner of the Estense Prize, supporting this extraordinary event that combines culture, journalism and social commitment.
